... in particular through Langley Mill.

Is there anywhere I can find out some of the regular freight working, or get a heads up on any 'out of the ordinary' working through Langley Mill?

I have just moved house and the room I am sitting in right now looks over the line, I am quite a way away but you can tell what type of trains they are when they pass. Thinking of giving my camera/video camera a bash on a zoom and see what we end up with. Saying that there is a blanket of fog covering the valley at the minute!

Maybe this query would be better off in a different forum? (Though I suppose the description "routeing" could be applied).

Anyway, have a look at Yahoo Groups - most areas appear to be served by some sort of "Gen" group so there could well be an "East Midlands" one or similar. If you don't mind paying a subscription then there is also Freightmaster which will provide you with updated timetables of what is currently running in many places all over the country, including the East Midlands.
