Fraud email from Greater Anglia

Hello,

I received an email from 'Fraud Investigations' in August that stated "We have been investigating industry data and have been led to believe you are potentially not paying full fares on Greater Anglia services. There appear to be a number of incorrectly purchased tickets showing on your account that are a breach of our terms and conditions and considered fraudulent activity"

This is in regards to me purchasing tickets along with the job center discount option. Now, I've always shown the conducters my job center online account that proves that I am on UC, and it has always been approved and everything fine. I did not know (until now) that I needed a physical job center railcard. I seemed to have racked up a hefty fine of £300 odd because of this.

I'd be very appreciative of any advice on what to do from here. Do I just pay it and get it over with or should I contact my work coach and explain my situation, or is there something else I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Hi. I think it would be best for you to start a new thread of your own to get advice on this one.
Hopefully you can see how to do that ok.

We'd need to see the email, but I suspect the correct answer is to ignore the email and the follow ups that you will inevitably receive. And stop using discounts that you have no entitlement to receive.

Oh sorry. I think so
Head back if any problems doing that.
Given it sounds like you might actually be entitled to that railcard (unlike many people who seem to use that discount without one) you may need some specific advice.

Do not reply to their message in any way before you get advice however.
