In order to deflect the hail of opprobrium aimed at my good self can I conclude by simplifying things and saying I prefer male to female pundits and leave it at that.

I, similarly, have an issue with people commenting on Rail Forums who have not worked in the rail industry at the top level.
Does he actually cover football? Thought he just did Homes Under The Hammer...also like Dion Dublin - he isn't very good but seems happy and almost seems to think that someone will rumble him at any moment so he may as well enjoy it before they do.
I think you missed the sarcasm.I think Gary Lineker was only watching part of the England v Scotland game last night. Tweeted "Game of the tournament so far. Absolute Thriller.". https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/1405991620663812100
The reply from Specsavers was good.
Oh, looks like that tweet was like an aeroplane then - right over my head. In my defense I had just got up and was only halfway through breakfast. But still a good reply from Specsavers!I think you missed the sarcasm.
When a famous player / ex-player has their name attributed to a newspaper article, I invariably wonder whether the piece has actually been written by them, or "ghost written" by some newspaper staffer / hack? What about pundits writing, especially in the Guardian? I saw that Philipp Lahm, who used to play for Germany, wrote a couple of articles, but are the other experts former players too?
I can't believe that people will grumble about Robbie Savage for going a bit overboard with enthusiasm... would they rather listen to Danny Murphy who has all the personality of a breeze block and about half the vocabulary? He's so dull he could stop paint from drying.
Rather that than Monotone Murphy.Savage is fine when it’s a Wales game and his natural enthusiasm for his country. It’s when he’s doing “ordinary” games and seems to go for controversial stuff and/or everything is either fantastic or a shambles. See also Chris Sutton in this regard
