There was a London to Portsmouth on 17th June (2 days ago)
And due to be a London, reading, Salisbury, Southampton back vai Winchester, basingstoke, reading

Unfortunately Kent has been left off the Centenary tour list - closest we get is probably the Bluebell railway in late August early September or a dash up to London on a Zones 1-6 travelcard to see it come in to a London terminals. I'm kinda glad that at least last March they had a successful tour with it here so it wouldn't be out of the question for any future tours as the same with any other LNER pacific.

I went and saw it at Canterbury West and got some good photos if anyone wants to see them, think the siding at Cbury West is out of use at the moment (Might be temporary) so it wouldn't be able to stop for long due to spacing between trains

They appear to keep the timings a secret until the very last minute to avoid trespassers - Might not be listed until the night before. But if someone has some insider knowledge and can share it, I too would be interested in the timings

Indeed, but maybe don't expect to see FS doing much work - it's started a lineside fire at Wymondham on the outward leg and rumoured to be topped by a diesel (or at least assisted from the rear by 47802) on the return.

The only thing I wonder is if the Scotsman will definitely be travelling on that line, as the southern ECML will be closed for engineering works from Royston/St Neots towards Kings Cross on the 24th and 25th.

It's the 23rd June, ie today. Not the 24th.

Indeed, but hardly surprising. Expect a mainline steam ban to be imposed by NR at some point in the summer, as happens with predictable regularity.

Certainly expect to see diesels coupled directly to steam. Been rather dry of late, I understand, and the fire brigade will be keen to avoid preventable callouts. Not a lot NR can do about it tbh.

I went on the Salisbury Express this Wednesday just gone, and there was a very high turnout for spectators in the Newbury area: at the Racecourse station where it stopped for water the platform was packed, and when it sat in Newbury for a few minutes to allow a GWR service to pass, the entire primary school opposite the station watched and cheered it on from the fence on the road rising alongside the station. I don't believe any notable trespass incidents happened, but I may not have seen them if any did.

Unless a summer is particularly cool / wet, a full steam ban happens almost every year. It happened last year in July with some Steam Dreams and RTC steam excursions being diesel-hauled throughout with no kettle involved which I was more than happy with.

Steam locos throw sparks quite high and it doesn't take much wind to carry them to adjacent fields even if the foliage is cut back. It's a combination of The TOC not wanting to pay compensation, NR not wanting to annoy the neighbours, and the fire brigade not wanting to have to send appliances out that can be avoided. AIUI there's a working group that reviews the forecasts and dryness/fire risk reports regularly through the summer to advise what the restrictions should be.

Well FS was leading on the return leg and by the sounds of it working quite hard. It certainly made for an impressive sight and I’ve got too very happy little boys!

As you will see from my pictures above that was the case the last time i saw FS - hardly avoidable this time of year

Seems NR are so concerned about trespassers on the line when FS appears that they have now taken to running a light loco ahead of the tour with BTP in the cab to apprehend anyone taking photos where they shouldn't. That's what 0Z57 was. What a sad state of affairs...

Now we've had some rain recently, with more forecast over the next week, I would hope this won't be so much of an issue now.

Depends on the area, but much of the underlying undergrowth is still bone dry.
