Flight advice?

Does anyone know the cheapest way to get to Australia? I've seen £720 return with Emirates Via Dubai i can fly from the major airports in England im closest to Manchester though and need to get to Brisbane, Melbourne or worst case scenario Sydney i could do with being in Aus as soon as and need to return on December the 9th

Norwegian do some cheap flights to Bangkok, you would need to get to where they fly from though, should still be cheap. From there Air Asia do more cheap flights for the onward journey. Skyscanner is pretty good for cheap flights. Emirates, Etihad and I think Qatar all fly from Manchester. I think Singapore might be at the moment as well. Changing in Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Singapore you can get flights with the same airlines to MElbourne, Brisbane or Sydney.

There is also the option of Aeroflot or the Chinese Carriers as well as the Gulf routes

When it first launched, I used to work freelance as an expert for FlightFox. I stopped working for them when I got a 'real job' and since then the website has changed it's business model, but it's still a viable option for getting an independent flight expert to find you a bargain fare.

I found a number of customers cheap routes from the EU to Oz via the Chinese airlines. China Southern was a frequent bargain.

Use Skyscanner (especially for the flexible 'whole month' searches) and Kayak. You're most likely going to be looking at the Middle Eastern or Asian airlines.

Another option is to go into the Flightcentre and ask them the best deal they can give, also check the back of newspapers always see flight deals to OZ in them.

I think £720 is a reasonable fare with Emirates via Dubai. You may be able to save a bit on that by taking a more obscure, and longer, routeing. That may also possibly involve low cost airlines with reduced levels of comfort and added charges for refreshments and luggage.

If I could afford that fare, I'd go with it.

Whatever you decide to do, be careful when it comes to parting with your hard earned cash.

Don't use dodgy third party websites, research carefully and use bona fide high street travel agents or book directly with the airline itself. There are many horror stories of problems with the likes of edreams and bravofly, and plenty of scammers out to just take your money.

Make sure you sign up to STA travels newsletter. They had flights to Oz from £199 yesterday but, for me, the dates were not compatible as I couldnt get the time off.
