The TSRs (35mph from 08.00 - 23.59, and 25mph from 00.00 - 07.59) were actually only lifted from start of traffic yesterday (11 January)!

I do find the idea of a blanket TSR pretty farcical To me that says "we haven't bothered to train our drivers to competently know how to drive a train".
On a train today from Leicester Square to King's Cross and part way along the train announced 'there is a defect' and then started giving random safety announcements and 'next train is ...' without saying a station.
It later announced King's Cross as Caledonian Road, before correcting itself at the station itself (and having told people to mind the gap many times while in the tunnels).
The screens were fine. Just audio, which seemed weird as I thought drivers often couldn't even hear the announcements - so why announce to the whole train there's a defect?!

It appears that the system was simply cycling through all the recordings in its memory, including some that are otherwise unused.

you would never fualt a car driver for driving slowly when there is ice about, reason being, they do not know where the ice is. It is exactly the same with slippery tracks
