Hey Guys.

I'm off up to Edinburgh for a day in April, from Leeds.

Me and my friend both have 16-17 saver. We booked our tickets direct with LNER for £32 return each, bargain.

16-17 saver does not apply to 1st class tickets, however the tickets we've been assigned say 'Advanced Single' on which does appear to be covered by Seatfrog.

If I was to upgrade directly with LNER, it would be around about £45 each which I'm to believe is standard upgrade price?

This all makes me believe that if i was to bid for an upgrade with Seatfrog, the upgrade would be valid - even though we're on 16-17 saver tickets.

I just would prefer not to be kicked off a train on my way to or from Edinburgh and would like some clarification before I place any money down with Seatfrog or make serious bids etc.

Thanks all :D

Welcome to the forum! Yes you can still upgrade; the fact your tickets have a discount doesn't affect the cost of any supplement fare, such as Seatfrog.

£32 is a very good price from Leeds to Edinburgh, and it probably isn't worth more than doubling the price for First Class, unless the train you get is particularly busy in Standard.

For future reference though, our site can find cheaper fares than LNER's site, though perhaps not in this particular case.

thankyou for the prompt response :)

It was £32 return, I was well pleased. 16-17 saver + unidays is a potent combo.

Hmm.. that might be an error:
Please note that you can't use your UNiDAYS discount and your Railcard at same time.
However, once booked, the tickets are valid regardless of any such issuing errors, so you don't need to worry!

That said, it's not as good as a different error, which resulted in 2p fares from North Yorkshire to the London area last week ;)
