Hi everyone.

I gave my metro-smart card to my friend so he can save money by buying a weekly ticket to travel to work.
I told him to buy his own card though but anyway it was late night.

So I accidentally bought a weekly ticket to another metro-smart card which I lost more than a year ago but did not notice that. So my friend was traveling from the James street station to the Capenhurst station (long way) almost a full week but obviously the card never worked when trying to get through ticket gates, so he was showing the receipt and card to the metro workers and asking for help like why the ticket doesn't work. They were letting him go after. So one morning he was fined for not having a valid ticket while going to work though he had been given green light at James street station like 15 ming ago. He could not explain the situation because of his poor english. Should we fight with them? metro workers could have prevented this with they helped him…

I'm not sure what you mean by this - when I was at James Street a week ago I didn't encounter any ticket barriers.
For clarity, I think we're talking about James Street, Liverpool. And the barriers are in the ticket hall at the top of the lifts rather than down with the platforms. I'm not sure if there are barriers on the ramp that exits to street level in the corner of India Buildings on Water Street.

Liverpool James street yes. And hopefully they can provide cctv from that day. Also one day I was with him when we were traveling from Moorfields train station to Seaforth. He literally asked a lady at ticket office why the card doesn't work and she just did not know and also he asked a guy next the gates who let him go through. So we just though there is a technical problem

I thought so too. I can't think of another James Street, especially where a "metro smart card" might be useful.

There's lifts - who knew?

Apparently not, as that's the way I entered and left! I bought a ticket at that entrance and was rather surprised to get to the platform without needing to put it into a barrier.
