Hi;

I am looking for suitable filming locations where we can film a driver in a cab, and passengers in a First Class carriage on a FGW HST - 1990s.

We are also looking for a Thames 'Turbo' Train drivers' cab to film in.

If anyone had any suggestions of where options for this may be located (maybe at a depot, museum, scrap yard, training facility etc) then please let me know - john.owens@darlowsmithson.com

Thank you very much!
:)

If you want to film for commercial reasons then you will require the permission of the TOC concerned (FGW in your case). Additionally your desire to record staff members whilst working (presumably) will also require arranging with FGW. I'm not quite sure why you're asking on a web forum when you need to contact FGW directly.

You can find their contact details here.

sorry for the confusion - we have done some filming with FGW already - however their older HSTs (what we are looking for) are no longer in operation, and they don't have anything suitable to represent the 90s.

We were hoping that someone may know if there may be options else where - for instance there are older electric trains kept and maintained in Coventry.

My apologies if this is not suitable for the forum - I was recommended to post on here by the rail networks, so I thought I would give it a try...

I've split these posts from the Railway Webcams topic and moved it as it has no relation to the original topic

FGW still operate their 'older HSTs' and their Thames Turbos - they've all been refurbished, that's all. When it comes to the driving cabs, though, I can't think they have changed much inside since the 1990s, so the best bet would probably still be to approach FGW.

With regards to the interior of a FGW first class carriage in the '90s, perhaps one of the charter operators could offer something similar - Cargo D/Rail Blue Charters's Mk3 first class coaches were formerly in service with Virgin trains, so their interior moquette would not be the same as that of FGW in the (presumably late) '90s. However, the design of the carriage is pretty much exactly the same inside barring the different colour, so would certainly give the 'feel' of an intercity train on the Great Western in the 1990s.

Hope this is (at least a tiny bit!) helpful! :)
