Hello
I was stopped without a valid ticket, the reason being I couldn't find the return part of my ticket.
I travel on train fairly often, have a network railcard and had soooo many old tickets slips with me i kept for my tax, I have spend many many hundreds. i am not a fare dodger, i just couldn't find the return part i know i had.
I know i should have removed and stored my old tickets so things were clearer to me...

I didn't have cash on me ( i don't use cards ) so the inspector ( who was a trainee, on his training ) said its ok, they will write and you can pay a fine and fare.
I have a prosuction letter now, from FCC.

I accept it is entirely my fault for being disorganised and losing my ticket and not realising. What would be a reasonable offer to make to FCC?
should i make this offer in my letter then or wait for their suggestion?

I would rather just pay whatever is due, than dispute this as I know I was unfortunately wrong, albeit not intentionally.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Are you still unable to find it?

Do you have the outward portion?

How did you pay for the ticket, and do you have evidence of the transaction?

Unfortunately FCC do not appear to be giving you the opportunity to "just pay whatever is due" though you may yet be able to keep the matter out of court.

(You may find RailUK Fares & Ticketing Guide helpful, there is a section on Disputes)

Just so that I understand you correctly, are you saying that at the time of this incident, you had no money whatsoever on you in any form?
