Currently 14.40, sitting on a 317 at Tottenham Hale going nowhere due to a failed train at Ponders end, does anyone know what the failure is?

Suffered an emergency brake application and loss of power. Has now been assisted by 1B74 into Broxbourne.

Thanks for that. been absolute mayhem. 14,12 Hertford service got terminated at Tottenham and everyone told that the next hertford was right behind this was 14.50. Automated announcement said 14.55 Hertford running 2 mins late . 14.05 service arrives , announcement says Hertford train is actually Stanstead Express. Train departs announcement next service hertford running 15 mins late, guess what on arrival it was the 14.40 cambridge running 30 mins late. Finnally gave up and took the Cambridge to Cheshunt and then got the 15.31 back to Waltham Cross.
felt sorry for the station staff as they were taking the flack , Why though cant national express keep the customers informed of progress instead of treating them like mushrooms (kept in the dark and fed Bull****) .

Have been off the past couple of days. What did I miss...?
I have to say I also feel sorry for the station staff, as it's not just the punters who get the mushroom treatment. They often only know which train is next by watching the order in which trains are departing and arriving on the computer screens. The auto-announcement system is woefully inadequate to keep up with the alterations and delays and should not be relied upon under such circumstances. It really should be switched off and the station staff revert to making their own announcements, but they don't often get the chance.
I did get caught up in Tuesday evening's delays when the 1933 Stratford-Stansted Airport service blew a compressor and came to a grinding halt at Broxbourne Junction. I was on my way to Cambridge as the 1958 departure and spent a very pleasant 20 minutes or so at Broxbourne station in the company of my passengers, all of whom wanted me to tell them details I had no way of knowing.
