It's been a while since I last asked this, so... is there anyone else here who explores disused railway lines?

And would anyone be interested in joining us this summer? We will cycle the Rosedale route in the North Yorkshire Moors (13 July), Bodmin - Padstow (4 August), Abergavenny - Cwmbran (21 August), Treherbert - Port Talbot (22 August), Bath - Bristol including the reopened tunnels (23 August), the Dunblane, Doune and Callander Railway (late August), various disused lines in Edinburgh (late August), we also have plans to do Polegate - Heathfield, and various routes in Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North East (dates to be decided). You could join us for any part of any of these rides.

I will be going on a number of these rides, they're a great way to experience former railway lines, socialise with other members and get a bit of exercise too (don't worry though, they always involve lunch and often a pint at the end )!

Any plans for Hadfield - Penistone ? - though I doubt the tunnel would be as easy to arrange as it was in 1986.

The July issue of "The Railway Magazine" has a letter in saying that the Devonshire and Coombe Hill tunnels on the former Somerset and Dorset route were opened to cyclists and walkers in April of this year. Another route for you to try?

By disused lines I take it you mean lifted lines as opposed to those disused but still in situ!

Do you do it for a charity or just for the sheer fun of it, would seriously consider doing a disused railway bike ride if near to me, something like South Hetton to Ryhope, Haswell to Hartlepool or Hetton to Pittington/Sherburn...

Best of luck anyway
