Adwick to Sheffield, the hourly service arrives into Sheffield around quarter past the hour, then sits in Sheffield for 50 minutes before going back to Adwick (and sitting there for another half an hour)

I guess due to the stoppers being roughly hourly instead of half hourly.

Similar to how the 319/323s from Crewe sit at Liverpool Lime Street for over an hour before they return back to Manchester, in the days where Northern had the Warrington Bank Quay stoppers the units would arrive from Crewe sit at Liverpool for ~ 30 minutes to form the Warrington service. I would imagine there are other examples in Northern where lines which used to be 2tph have been axed to 1tph meaning units sit at stations for long periods.
