Euston station bus stops

We were in London on Friday morning, arriving into Euston, and needing to go to an address near Old Street roundabout.

Original plan had been to walk - we had plenty of time and I've done the walk before - but decided not to because of the hot sunshine (it got to around 30degrees in London on Friday!).

We also decided we didn't fancy taking the Northern Line because of the heat so walked out to the bus stops and looked at the map to see which bus might take us somewhere near - the 205 was perfect for our needs.

Walked along to the relevant stop and there is a timetable on a nearby pillar saying the buses ran every 8-12 minutes (or thereabouts can't remember exactly).

So I walked all round the bus shelter expecting to see a real time information panel showing when the next 205 would arrive but couldn't find one.

Is there RTI at Euston station bus stops or did I somehow manage not to see it?

On our return journey there was RTI at the stop we got on the bus.

I'm not sure about Euston specifically, but I know that not every stop in London has RTI. If I remember correctly, I did ask one time for RTI to be installed at a specific location, and I believe the answer given was that this particular stop had a frequent enough service to not warrant one ! So perhaps that's why they don't exist at Euston. I understand they are surprisingly expensive to install.

ICBW but I don't think any new RTI displays are being installed as it's assumed 'everyone'* will have smart phones and can check on there.

*I know not everyone does

Far as I recall there's a RTI display at all the stops in Euston bus station plus the ones on the opposite side of the Euston road. It's in the shelter at ceiling level so you'd see it if standing in the shelter looking towards the arriving buses.

Edit: actually no not quite all, the stop for the 68 has one but not the one for the 205, you can see it all on Google Streetview. I'm sure there was at some point, maybe it was removed if it had failed?

TfL have hardly bveen consistent on this though. They have told me in the past that they can't justify the costs on little-used routes - although of course those are precisely the routes where the it is most important for the users, albeit few in number, to know how long it will be for the next bus to appear.

I'm surprised nobody suggested TfL Go or similar London bus countdown apps which show the real time data for each bus stop.

Last year, they were trialing some next-generation displays. Don't know the current state of the trial though.

There is still real-time bus information at Euston (at least for all the various stops in the bus station in front of the mainline station), in one consolidated list in a display on the side of the information point in the bus station. (This is near the entrance to the Doric Arch pub.) It's not generally staffed these days, but it used to do a roaring trade with people arriving in London in the days when it had bus maps to give out... Not all of the individual stops have their own display, though certainly some do.
