My wife and I are travelling south from Newcastle on 22 November via York, but I see tickets are not available yet. (14 weeks and 2 days ahead)

To get an idea of prices and route options I decided to look for 3 weeks earlier (1st November)

See image .. something isn't right, with 20+ hour travel times .. we could probably walk faster :D .. or maybe not, with her suitcase

Q. Will there be engineering works on Sun 22nd November please ?

On Sunday 1st November 2026, there looks to be rail replacement buses operating South of Darlington. Departures timed at 0949 and 1048 from Newcastle look like they're heading off on the line towards Hartlepool. Not sure what the actual itinerary is. :s

Looks like there is a closure of York station, but there aren't any buses in the system yet for the section from Northallerton to York.

National Rail has the information for 1 Nov and the revised times are evidently not uploaded yet.

The answer to your question will be available in a couple of weeks :)

An 0715 arrival into York (Monday morning) is suggesting to me a very lengthy overnight wait at Middlesbrough before then taking the first TPE train of the day towards York/Manchester Airport.

Your travel date is not within the current generic booking horizon, so third party ticket sellers such as the one shown in your screenshot won’t be able to offer the full range of tickets.

Your travel date is not subject to any planned engineering works affecting the ECML between Newcastle and London, however, and is already available for booking direct with LNER directly, per the below screenshot.

The screenshot also shows the caveat that timetables are subject to change but that, as a ‘direct’ customer, they’ll also be in touch should any change occur.

Anecdotally, LNER does, however, seem to ‘kite fly’ with the fares for these early release tickets, and it’s not unknown for fares to fall back once the general booking window is open, so caveat emptor!

I was checking options and prices earlier on today and saw the route described above.

Now I am ready to book it, I can't seem to find it again

Yes, there's a journey via Ely but that requires two changes, rather than one. Yes, this will do, but I was just wondering why my initial route isn't available

Thanks for that, but there's been a change of plan, we are now travelling two weeks earlier

Are there any engineering works on Sunday 8th November please, for a journey .. NCL > YRK > PBO > NRW

thank you
You're in the clear for that weekend - service essentially as normal.

Sorry there's been a minor hitch and we've lost your thread title which had the route described, would you mind reposting it as a reply?
