Emu for coaching stock query

Hi there building a model railway atm based on a preserved line and for coaching stock I am looking at using a unpowered 4vep/cep unit and was wondering if it's easy to removeal of the motor to make it unpowered? Or if the motor is in one of the coaches and not one of the driving cars so this could be removed from the set? Also I am looking at useing a hornby observation car as part of a coaching rake and was wondering if the coach had couplings at both ends? Any information is greatly appreciated..... Many thanks... AIUI, the motors on the hornby 4VEP is in the MBSO, not a driving vehicle, it would not be easy to replace with a dummy bogie.

Do what I did with my Hornby 466, take the vogue out, remove various parts of the motor and boom, freewheeling ahoy.

To be fair though, the motor in the Hornby 4 VEP is fairly naff, all you've really got to do is disconnect the cables leading into it (Should be the same type as the 153! ). As for the Devon Belle / Ex Devon Belle Observation car, unfortunatly Hornby has - unlike Dapol - Not produced the model with any couplings, or provision for couplings on the outer ends of the vehicle, so inner end coupling only unfortunatly.

Think the hornby vep has the Limby motor in and it's sealed so think you will need to make a tall enough pivot and axel holder I will check the service sheet and let you know
