Any idea when the Lincoln service will start from London?

London-Lincoln is, IIRC, a NXEC route starting in 2009 or 2010 (probably the latter). It will be a 2-hourly service to KX.

EMT are also going to run a London to Lincoln service, oviously from St Pancras. I think it's only going to be one train a day each way though, not regular like the NXEC one. Good for Lincoln though, not direct service to London for many years, then 2 TOCs want to run them. I can't see the EMT one being that well used though, since it will take longer than the EC one (current service with changes is about 2:30 via the ECML and 3:00 via the MML, so I expect the direct trains will be a fair bit quicker, but still with about half an hour between them), especially if I'm right about the frequency. Stopping pattern will also be a factor, extra stops will increase journey time, yet few stops will reduce the potential market (particularly London-Leicester-Nottingham-Lincoln), which would only really benefit the middle two stations by providing a slightly faster service than the existing Leicester to Lincoln service, yet that's not exactly heavily used, plus it's likely to run towards London in the morning and back at night, so would really only be useful for commuter traffic from Lincoln to Nottingham and Leicester (which I doubt is a heavy flow at all). I really expect to see it come off before long. It's not that the service itself is a bad idea, but I think it was doomed from the moment NX announced their own direct service to Lincoln.

Like the Skegness summer specials i think it will be, and extra for holiday people, cheaper than NX hopefully. But running the other way to London in the Morning i can't see much of a point.

Can I ask, what stock is operating the EMT Route 2 services (Liverpool - Norwich)? I am thinking of going to Heaton Chapel later on to see some of the unbranded stock (AXC and EMT).

Cheers in advance...:)

I think it'll still be sprinters, sadly. I can't see them goving over HSTs yet, and the Meridians seem to be needed on the MML.

Just as I expected really. 156/158/170 I'm guessing...have any been de-logoyfied yet? :)

Don't know about logos, but I've heard that some have lost them.

There won't be 170s, sadly, probably 158s for some strange reason. The 170s went to XC. 158s can easily be lengthened as well, making them the best choice to keep to their longer trains promise.

Since when have Meridians and HSTs been mentioned for this route? :o

That would give me a very good excuse to do Manchester/Sheffield to Norwich if they do become formed of proper intercity style trains :D

You wont see HST's on those routes. Only on Orange routes. So I'm thinking, a 158 into London St Pancras for Lincoln? Whereas via the ECML it will be a HST.

Liverpool to Norwich will be 158s. EMT arn't going to have any Turbostars and 156s are 75mph wheras it's a 90mph timed route (although driven hard a 156 can keep time, and Central have used them on occasion, usually when a Turbostar or 158 is on a 75mph diagram).
