There's now a 7.5 tonne limit on the A57 Snake Pass. Most buses, even unladen single deckers, will typically weigh more than that.

It definitely isn't unit availability. Northern were running 5-car Hope Valley services yesterday instead of the usual 2 or 3-car. specifically due to the Stockport works.

Whether Northern is using the vacant EMR paths on Saturdays or not is irrelevant anyway. The Northern service is running, it departs 20 minutes after the bus and it is scheduled to arrive at the same time as the bus. Nobody is going to use the bus, ergo it is a pointless waste of money.
The Northern service is running from Liverpool to Sheffield using 3 car 195s using the EMT PATHS.

Tomorrow TPE are running an hourly service between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road using the EMT paths but calling only at Liverpool South Parkway and Warrington Central.

Does anyone know how busy the additional weekday Northern fast trains to/from Sheffield are? Thinking of having a ride on one this week in 1 direction on my day off.

Not too bad loading wise, but the fact both the xx43 fast and the xx48 slow are mostly timetabled at the same platform, at Piccadilly, does cause lot of confusion. If you board as it arrives in you more likely to get a descent seat, before everyone get sorted onto the right train.
