Route 60 has a small but very vocal passengers and to be fair streetlite is far to big for the route it really should be using something like those Ice cream vans aka Mellor Strata.

I get that, but sometimes there has to be hard calls that things like that aren't economic.

This I agree with. The 60’s passengers will moan like there’s no tomorrow if it’s taken off again, but it does not need a bus with a seating capacity of more than 16-20 eg a slimline solo, WF StreetLite or even more ideally the Strata as you said. HCL are therefore probably more suited to running this in the long run, should they bid at the next tender. The large duplication of it with the 2 and 12 isn’t ideal though.

In an ideal world, I'd wonder if re-routing an existing route might be more economic, whether it is the 2/12 or the 14.

If the Royal Mile was ever fully pedestrianised, then the 35 would be the obvious candidate. It did this route while the Royal Mile at the High Street was shut for months.

Indeed and a decent case for the Mile to be pedestrianised.

Am I right that buses used to go right into the estate rather than on the periphery in the past.

The 35 running via dumbiedykes like before would be perfect, I think it was well used during the diversion, it would be the case of killing two birds with one stone in that regard, plus a more enhanced service in that too.

A long time ago when Mac Tours ran the 60, it either terminated or just ran through Viewcraig Street, I think the layout of the street could still fit a bus now but clearly wasn't super popular.

Could the 45 be diverted? The frequency is suitable (half-hourly), and there are alternatives for Bridges, Leith Street and London Road (5, 11, 16 etc).
