Does anyone know anything about what happened to the Edgware/Bushey Heath line?
Work was well in advance in preparing the route when the declaration of War in September 1939 halted this and the extension from Mill Hill East to Edgware.
The tunnel under Station Road Edgware is regularly inspected but sealed. All that remains is Platform 1 at Edgware and a new signal box never brought into use until the automation of the line in the 60s and a partly built viaduct at Spur Road North of the station.
The proposed site for Brockley Hill station was used as a Bus service depot that is still there today?
The Railway Gazette issued a special edition titled Improving Londons Transport in 1946 and a limited number of copies were bound as hardbacks. Your library might be in a better position to obtain a copy for you?
Hope this helps?
