Hi everyone, i was just curious to know when the EMCC was due to fully open and when Derby, Trent and Leicester PCB's were due to close? The lastest copy of Raiway Magazine say's that Leicester is due to close at the of the year.

As an aside, will there be any track rationalisation with the planned change over's? I only ask this because when i went up to Trent Bridge yesterday to watch the cricket the short stretch of track between Lenton N Jct and Lenton S Jct looked very rusty! Its hard to see how it could be used in the future and i was wondering how it had survived this long.

Finally, i was up in Derby last Friday afternoon and noticed a rake of Freighliner wagons in Etches Park on the opposite side to the main line. Anyone know what they were doing there as it seemed rather odd. There were around four or five of them if that heps.

Yes Leicester is due to close at the end of the year and two new workstations will be commissioned at EMCC, replacing Croft SB (currently Westcad controlling part of the Leicester - Nuneaton line) and the PSB itself.

To my knowledge very few changes will be made to the track layout/signalling at this time, save for platform extension work, for example, at Loughborough. The 1980s PSB is being re-controlled due to the condition of some of the cabling.

There is some resignalling of Leicester station area at a later stage, and work to introduce 125mph on the MML.

In September this year, Kirby Summit SB and the Robin Hood line part of Trent PSB will be also recontrolled to Derby.

Nottingham station area is the next big project to be completed next year, this will see remodelling of the station area and final abolition of Trent PSB. It seems the troughing and equipment rooms are already being installed.

Looking beyond that the next project is the abolition of Derby PSB, and the Nottingham - Grantham and Lincoln resignalling, to be completed around 2015, following that, West Hampstead recontrol and Leicester - Peterborough resignalling. This will all be contolled by further workstations at EMCC.
