East Anglia Rover Trip

Planned trip attached with destination details. Comments about any station I haven't visited which I should, connnections etc pwease!!!

EDIT: My traveline link: I am confused: Can I use the rover on that bus and will I have enough time to visit it and is it all worth it?

It's best to get seat reservations where you can, that's what I do and then I have a guaranteed seat.

Well....

Norwich, it takes about 10m to get from the station to the city. And then the cathedral is slightly away from the city centre. Same with Yarmouth, it is a surprising long way from the station to the seafront (~10m). As has been said no chance you will get into Cromer and to the pier in that time.

Might I suggest rather than going to explore Beccles use that time going to Ness Point, the most eastery point in the UK and stand under Gulliver, the UKs tallest wind turbine. Both in Lowestoft.

Also be on one of my trains!

I get free bus travel between Yarmouth station and the town with the rover ticket.

6hr 40m round trip, 20 miles.

Seems pretty reliable (i.e. when a service should be 4 cars there are 4 cars and the seat reservations are all put out) when I've used the service.

Using the SX timetable, trains East of Nottingham should be formed of 2 coaches, except the 05:50 off Norwich which is formed of 4 coaches throughout, and trains West of Nottingham should be 4 coaches, except the 17:45, 18:45 and 19:40 off Nottingham and the return 20:52 and 21:37 off Liverpool. The early morning services to Norwich are generally very quiet. Westbound, you should be fine starting in Nottingham if you arrive in good time.

As I understand it, there are financial penalties to EMT if they run a service with 2-cars instead of the booked 4.

5 times me+my dad travelled one week on this and not one time were there 4 coaches when there were 4 coaches booked and only once were there resevations put on. And it wasn't just this week! Its a regular occurrence. and yes I have told EMT and there response was: 'We apoligise for any inconvenience caused.' 10 phone calls later and I got a reason but without...

The service is quite often a 4 car (when I see it anyway), you must have been unlucky or something. As for reservations they seem to be always put out even when it's 2 car.I must admit last Saturday on the Greater Manchester challenge, we were going to get an EMT from Stockport to Manchester but it turned up 2 car jam packed. The reservations were out though and people were standing at the ends with seats+gaps in the middle and the guard was useless standing in the train with 1 leg on the platform :roll:
