I believe that there is a daily train service from Dresden to Poland (or at least there was), I think it's just a Siemens unit, but I cannot for the life of me remember where the final destination in Poland is - can someone help? I believe the journey time was around 4-4 1/2 hours. I've got a week in Dresden in Feb / March and am thinking of finishing it with trip to Poland if it works.

Thanks in advance.

Do you just want to sample Polish Railways for a few hours or do you actually want to stay in Poland?

If it is the former (in the form of a day trip) and strictly for railways then you only need go as far as Wegliniec which is a PKP railway junction with decent interesting freight

A Dresden–Wrocław Regio Spezial ticket on the direct RE is EUR.39 return, valid 3 days, but for some reason it doesn't show up in the DB booking engine.

If travelling one way, a ES-Poland starts at EUR19, but using the daily and incredibly slow EC Wawel between Cottbus and Wroclaw.
