Query:-

I'm planing a wee trip from the UK to Germany by train. Three railway staff & one public fare. Now we (rail staff) get cheap 1st Class (Standard Premier) on the Eurostar but the public fare doesn't.

That said I have seen a London Spezial for only 10€ more from London to Lindau (Bodensee) in 1st for the connections we want. We rail staff, however, would have to pay almost 100€ each to upgrade from Brüssel Süd to Lindau to go 1st ~ ain't gonna happen!

My question is this: would it be permissible for the pubic fare to sit in second class with a 1st class London Spezial Ticket?

In essence what would be happening is that we would all be in 1st on the eurostar and 2nd on the ICEs in Germany.
