I'm pretty sure one of the initial claimed attributes of the new trains was to overcome hunting. It's not quite right to say you can't defy physics, as the current stock was notably improved, I believe when the wheel profiles were changed. Coasting downhill on curves has previously been an issue - westbound into Prince Regent is a common spot for it.

No change to the door speed, it's just that they close at half speed when auto closing and remaining released as opposed being closed by the PSAI've just had a go on 211. It looks rather like what would happen if a B92 was crossbred with an old Tyne and Wear Metrocar, but it's not bad. When they were originally on test I saw some videos of them and the doors looked painfully slow to close - they're not at Class 165/166 guillotine levels, but they're certainly a lot quicker to close now! The seats were essentially breeze blocks in a moquette coat but I'm sure they'll soften over time. The last thing I noticed (I was in the leading coach), and the only thing which really concerned me, was some quite severe lateral oscillation entering stations, but I was only on it from Canning Town to West Ham so maybe it was something else. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised

Travelled on 224 early this afternoon from Stratford to Canning Town. This unit arrived still showing Stratford International on its destination display, and no announcements were playing onboard. This one has also lost its number from the end door of car 224E (which was facing Woolwich today), as has another unidentified set which appeared to be in service heading the other way just as I left Canning Town on the Jubilee. Also saw 231, which was on test once again, northbound at Stratford just before 224 arrived.
This might be a general issue. I saw old stock showing incorrect destinations in recent days - a train heading for Tower Gateway showing "Beckton", and a train heading for Beckton showing "Poplar".
I'm assuming that unit 231 is the only one doing mileage accumulation (I hope that's the correct description) at present. Doe anyone know how long it takes for a new unit to complete this and be ready for passenger service? It might give an indication of how long it will take to introduce all the new trains (unless more mileage accumulation diagrams are introduced of course).

There are new TfL Board papers ahead of next weeks Board meeting
In the Finance report page 8 (period 4)
Spent £27m on new trains (1 Apr - 25 July)
from memory none were delivered in this period, so presumably that is cost of storing them or upgrading and fixing them

He couldn't commit to anything, but he said CAF would like the trains delivered as soon as possible because they're taking up space in their facilities.Did he tell you when we will see more of them in service? Including those collecting dust in Spain?

I couldn’t really tell you to be honest as it shot past me south of Abbey Road. It was good to see some progress with these units at last though!

I noted 209/211/224 in service yesterday evening with 231 on test, I never saw 202. I went down to Beckton and managed to ID from the bridge-

Cheers, I did add the question mark after as I wasn’t sure if it was 202 I saw or not as I saw it from a passing unit but it did look like a 20X.
202 has not been delivered yet
I rode on 211 today which was unexpected as I didn't think they'd be any in service today, it is really nice especially with the new colour displays which is more like a cross for the one they use for the new buses and the Class 345/710s.

We are yet again inconvenienced by this weekend's closure of most of the system, apart from the eastern branches, and do wonder just how much more "testing" is going to take place, it is the reason stated for weekend closure for some years now.
Meanwhile it does look like maintenance has been slacked off on the current fleet. Yesterday one of the external door buttons was failed, and we saw not only confusion for those outside but one passenger not fleet-footed enough to move to the next one was left behind. Great when services are down to just every 10 minutes. I wonder what the staff procedure is for this when they get the departure tone. Car 49, if anyone from DLR maintenance is reading this.
I had this issue a few weeks back! Hope it’s not the same train (First set of doors). Frustratingly there was no notice on the door so I had to quickly walk to the next door but luckily the trains pause longer at Bank.
The doors have been playing up for years on the old units. I have hit this problem many times. Some of the buttons show signs of having been covered - presumably by warning notices - in the past. (A staff member once spotted a problem with the doors and told me to "give it a good whack" - which worked a treat).
So the sooner the rest of the B23 units get in service the better.
