Disruption between rose grove and Accrington 06/09/26

Does anyone know the extent of the disruption. I have a relative travelling from Halifax on the 22.28. Wondering if it’s going to be easier just to pick them up

This was seen on the Trainline app which I monitored from around 21.00

Looks like 1B42, 19 18 Blackpool North - York has sadly been involved in a fatality at Hapton....and is still there after an hour and twenty minutes. 1B41, 19 24 York - Blackpool North was held at Bradford Interchange for 50 minutes....before being allowed forward to Hebden Bridge, where it will reverse and form the 21 37 back to York.

Expect disruption until end of day with units and crews out of position.

I agree with this opinion. I think there's a good chance that - even if the line is clear by then - the 22 28 may be diagrammed from Leeds for the same crew who should have brought in 1B42 and who will now have been relieved from duty. Unless Leeds have a spare crew with the relevant route and traction knowledge available on a Sunday evening, there's a good chance that it will be cancelled. However, why not wait until 22 00 and check on Real Time Trains to see whether it's running or not?

According to Northern Journey Check just now, the service that forms the 22:28 from Halifax (York to Blackpool North) isn't running beyond Leeds. Can anyone confirm this understanding?

21:23 York to Blackpool North due 00:05 will be terminated at Leeds.
It will no longer call at New Pudsey, Bradford Interchange, Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, Burnley Manchester Road, Accrington, Blackburn, Preston, Poulton-Le-Fylde and Blackpool North.
This is due to the emergency services dealing with an incident.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was talking about the 22 28 from Halifax towards Blackpool, which is the train from which the OP is expecting to meet their relative....presumably at Preston, as they live in Bamber Bridge.

1B42 is reversing back towards Blackburn as 1T42. 1B39 stands at Hapton.

The 22 50 Manchester Victoria service from Halifax may have a bus connection from Hebden Bridge at 23 01....but I wouldn't bet on it. Have you or your relative tried phoning Northern's helpline? Unfortunately there will be no staff on duty at either Halifax or Hebden Bridge at this time on a Sunday night....but there may be a bus coordinator.

I managed to get a taxi from Hebden Bridge through Northern back to Bamber Bridge myself!
