PS they can take their MP with them as well !

Do you mean the former Chancellor who is pictured with a £1.50 slice of cake from an artisan market stall in a local paper today?

I admit that Prestbury is not where those iconic tea rooms have an establishment, but we do venture outwards from our delightful area to visit both York and Harrogate, where they are to be found. As regards those other entities to which you allude, they are as nothing to us.

With Harrogate the Montpellier Quarter is an exclusive area and the rest of the town has shops for people of all incomes. Grove Street, Wilmslow is no different to the rest of Harrogate despite your objections about shops which people on low incomes find affordable.

As you are from another Cheshire East area to us, are you old enough to have ever visited one of the finest tea rooms in the area of St Ann's Square in Manchester that was one of my most favoured places to visit before it sadly closed...Meng and Ecker?

I don't visit tea rooms. I prefer a quick snack and to get on with things opposed to a pricey lengthy refreshment break.

Politicians of all parties are noted for pandering to the lowest common denominator when it suits them. I have no personal need to indulge in such mere fripperies.

Discernment and enjoyment of the good things in life are things to savour when time is not of the essence, which any senior manager with a good PA would be at pains to inform you.

You remind me of the episode of Keeping Up Appearances where Hyacinth starts to offer a tray of biscuits to guests but then stops saying "No doily" and then tips all the biscuits back in to the tin.

You seem to have chosen the wrong sister above, as I feel that we are more akin to her sister Violet....the one who married well with "a Mercedes, swimming pool, sauna and room for a pony"...:D

Ah yes Violet:

"The Bu-kay residence. The Lady of The House speaking."

"It's my sister Violet. You know the one with a Mercedes, swimming pool and room for a pony."

"Bruce did what dear?"

"Maybe Bruce just felt like climbing a tree"

(Closes door and lowers voice)

"Why was Bruce wearing your clothes at the time?"

Wilmslow is similar to any other town in the UK. Only difference is it has a Rolls Royce dealership and a couple of upmarket jewellery shops.
Are you sure ?
With the amount of flash cars driving about round there, it's like being at the motor show or a guest on top gear. The only thing missing is Clarkson.
Wilmslow...............Formerly Finnigans (since 1982)
What happened to the Rex cinema ? That wasn't there last time I drove through a few years ago.
Because it's a very exclusive area. Even the housewives are real (so my SO says, I can't be bothered with that stuff.)
Yep he's right folks. Wilmslow is the northern equivelent of Essex, as a look at the fake suntans and stream of taxis to Mcr airport with passengters heading for Marbella will bear witness.

A Multiyork furniture store now occupies a large part of the former Rex cinema in Wilmslow.

One recent addition to Wilmslow town centre is the holiday company trading as Destinology, which is very upmarket indeed.
