Apologies I am Not Answering Your Query: Did the Desiro PIS at one point display Manuel messages initiated by the driver on the side window displays? I vaguely remember seeing a photograph of a SWT Class 450 display something akin to "Merry Christmas" or something football or politically themed! Maybe this feature was disabled at the same time the "Waterloo" Message was altered to " Lon W'loo" instead.
Indeed - and just to add - in the manual text menu on the Desiros, there is the option of "front", "side" or "interior" displays, though as far as I'm aware, no option for all three at once.

I read from the thread "How Customizable Is the SWT Desiro PIS" Apparently Electrostars & Turbostars also had this function until it was disabled. Has the function on the Desiro been disabled? As I have not seen any photographs of said phenomenon in the last five to ten years.

Initially the Desiros had this static esq display which only showed capitals in the centre. I presume the sequence was as follows: THIS TRAIN IS FOR: Change Screen: WEYMOUTH or WATERLOO, could the destination modification have occurred during the switch from static to scrolling internal displays?

I guess this also occurred at the same time the SWT Desiros switched their DVA from Phil Sayer to Celia Drummond in around 2004-05.

When was the original announcer of the Silverlink/Central Trains Class 350/1 replaced by Julie Berry?
