Whilst looking at the China rail accident thread, I noticed THIS in one of the links.

It's also being reported in Europe, though not very widely. One German report HERE.

The rumoured cause is the driver going too fast when crossing tracks.

Especially if he approached them at the speed he did. It would be interesting to know whether, routinely, that service would crossover or whether that was an out of course event and the driver didn't expect to be changing lines.
