Delay Repay Query with Southern

So yesterday, went to work with the following tickets

OffPeakDayRet: Havant to Merstham
OffPeakDayRet: Merstham to East Croydon

Due to an appt being arranged in Chichester - I got off on the way home at Chichester......attended the appt and came home with a family member by car.

The connecting service @ Horsham was late, and arrived into Chichester - 15 mins late (luckily enough still had time to make appt), looking at RTT the train arrived at Havant 14 mins late.

What is the correct way to submit this - would it be "abandoned" or a straight forward Delay?

Abandoned journeys are only when you return back to your starting location as of recent changes to the Conditions of Travel.

I would submit a claim from East Croydon to Chichester for 15 mins, upload a photo with both tickets shown (assuming they're paper tickets?), enter the price as the total of both tickets and ticket number 00000. If they're E-Tickets, I'd assume that uploading both as a single PDF file would do the trick.

This is the journey you made, and what you suffered a delay on. It won't matter that your journey didn't go to the end of your ticket's validity, but the claim may take a bit longer to process as it will need human review.

No compensation would be due for the Chichester - Havant journey you didn't make, in my opinion, but your claim for the journey you did make will be against the full price of both tickets anyway.

Thanks for that and the clarification - will put it through that way.......I was thinking if I included Havant in the claim it would confuse matters (and like you say I didn't get off at Havant anyway).



Just as a side note - the fare for HAV-MHM / MHM-ECR is the same as CCH-MHM/MHM-CCH......

Well, there you go. It's not even like you're trying to claim for more than you'd otherwise be entitled to if you were just going from/to Chichester!
