Hi All
So last Thursday there was signal fault at Hilsea which disrupted services from Portsmouth / Southampton,

I had the following tickets Havant (HAV)-Merstham / Merstham-East Croydon (ECR). Off Peak Returns.

I had planned to get the 0746 from Havant, change at Horsham (arrive 0845) for the Peterborough service leaving 0855. This arrives in ECR at 0945.

Due to the delays I got the delayed 0720 service departing Havant at 0756.....this arrived at Horsham at 0856 so missing the connection. The delayed service waited at Horsham for 25 mins (Train attachment from Bognor made). I decided that I would leave that service (which does not go via Merstham) and get the Peterborough service ay 0925......this arrived into ECR at 1015.

Side notes - the 0746 from Havant left Havant at 0839 and got cancelled at Barnham at 0920.......
My ticket was an offpeak - technically the first one I can get is the 0746......but someone at Havant said just jump on we don't know how long the 0746 will be......

Just wanting to make sure I (hopefully) get the claim right first time!! :) Thanks all!

Just put in your claim based on what you planned to do and how late you were arriving based on what you originally planned to do had there been no delays. They don't ask you what you did do (they can work that out themselves).

Thank you!

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Claim was rejected within 3 hours - it assumed that I was getting the 0920 train from Horsham to ECR - however that is not valid as my ticket splits at Merstham and I don't believe there was any ticket acceptance......
Interestingly the system has not complained that my OffPeak ticket was used on a Peak service

"The intended leg from 07:46 HAVANT, scheduled to arrive at HORSHAM at 08:46 could not be taken because the train was cancelled. The alternative leg from 07:20 HAVANT left 36 minutes late, scheduled to arrive at HORSHAM at 08:16, arrived 41 minutes late....."

I have resubmitted my claim for review.
