Railway Gazette reports that the vast majority of Stadtbahn light rail vehicles made by Düsseldorfer Waggonfabrik (Düwag) have been withdrawn from service due to material fatigue of some parts. Does anyone know any more details?

the news here suggest that inferior spare parts were used. Apparantly by the end of August the issue is to be resolved. Bonn now borrowed some vehicles from Cologne.
