I find the DB very useful. Just one quick question.

When reserving seats, how do you know the direction of travel on the schematic, please?

I want to book forward facing if I can.

They used to indicate the direction of travel but it looks like they've given up on that. I now use fernbahn.de to (> Wagenreihungen) check direction of travel, but it often occurs that the train set is in reverse order.

And-of course depending on route wanted, these trains often reverse in some head-on stations like FRAnkfurt or STUttgart. Given the actual state of cancels and delays this seems to me just a very minor detail that DB will not take as 1st to get rectified

Traditionally direction of travel wasn't indicated in Germany because individual coaches could be either way round and they didn't have the UK style duplicated numbering and you couldn't request a given direction. Units make it easier to do but can end up in reverse formation. I expect it's just not seen as that important at the moment given those things.
