Yes. The 12.27 would have been a better service to enjoy the journey in daylight.

Trying to decide whether it’s worth doing a run from Bristol to Birmingham for that very reason, most of it will be in the dark.

Strengthening to 2+8 is for the tour. Today’s 1E73 is just a way of getting the set to the premier HST depot beforehand.
