Hello,
I would really appreciate your advice.
I was traveling from London Liverpool street to Stansted airport, and i tapped on instead of buying a ticket, which I didn't knew. As I was fairly new in the country and I a, used to tap on to get trains in London.
The inspector showed on airport entry and told me that this is wrong and I need to give him my details and address, so that they would send me a letter.
I was travelling for one month, came back and did not get anything back.
I moved my address after 3 month, by then did not get any letter.
After 10 month I received I court fine with 500 pounds.
I contacted London collection and compliance, they said that they sent the letter earlier in March to London and then noticed that I have changed my address and send it to Sheffield (not sure about if the amount was doubled rom the court since I didn't pay in March).
I contacted the court and they advised me to do a statutory declaration to say that I had no idea about what is happening and that I had a court fine.
They advised me too to contact the greaterangelia prosecutor and tell them that I had not received any of the letter and if we can settle this out of court now and to withdraw it from court.
I am fairly new to the country and have no idea what to do ?
Would appreciate help and guidance.

You have been correctly advised of the need to do a statutory declaration. This will void your criminal conviction and you may then be able to negotiate with Greater Anglia to pay a sum to drop the case.
