Forgive my ignorance if this has come up somewhere before, I did a brief look.

Cornbrook is to be the terminus of the Mediacity UK trams, but where will they terminate? Just in the normal platforms and then reverse out? Is the track reversible? will there be a loop on to the other platform? Or will they become other services and continue onwards?

Theres a pocket siding just to the east of the platforms to allow reversing (though it hasnt been commisioned yet). Originally there was a third bay platform to allow services to reverse back towards the city but it was taken up a couple of years ago, however that left the space for the pocket siding track.

Ah, did wonder what that was.
Is there any chance of that platform coming to some use in the future, is that why it's been left there?

Not with the siding, I think its just cheaper to leave the former platform rather than demolish it.

Has any change happened about service provision to Media City UK over the last month? Will there now be direct services from Manchester Piccadilly that will terminate there during parts of the day?

No at the moment until the new lines open their still running a Piccadilly-Mediacity service in addition to the Piccadilly-Eccles service. When the new lines open the Mediacity service will originate from Cornbrook and the paths through the city centre go to the new services.

At Media Cuty UK, has there been more than just one problem that has caused the unfortunate state of affairs to be as they are?

Three stages of problems really, it first opened without the signalling being completed using manual points operation and they had an accident so had to close it again until they refined the manual operating procedures.
Second stage of problems they had a lot of mechanical failures with the points and the OHLE on the original Eccles line at the points. Then in the third stage with the signalling on they had signalling control computer issues. It has for the last few weeks now been at least stable if not flawless.
