Come across a document that mentions copyhold and how it's a control associated with point end correspondence. Anyone have any information about it or what it means? Thanks

Copyhold Junction is on the Brighton Main Line a short way south of the Ouse Valley (Balcombe) Viaduct, where the loops for Haywards Heath platforms widen out. There is a freight-only branch from Ardingly that joins at a south-facing junction here. I don't know if there are any other Copyhold jns around the network or if Copyhold controls aren't associated with the junction at all.
There was a crash at Copyhold Jn in 1985 but the technical report concludes it was due to leaf fall causing low adhesion. https://jonroma.net/media/rail/accident/uk/mot/MoT_Copyhold1985.pdf

Unfortunately I can't help with the specific controls, I know there are some signallers who cover (or covered) that area active on the forums though so they may be able to help if they stumble across this thread.

An interesting feature of the accident is that both trains were intended to run "wrong line" over the reversible tracks over the viaduct and through the tunnel, to maintain driver familiarisation. The route was set for the up train to cross in front of the down train, which shoukld have been held at the crossover point, but the down train was unable to stop at the end of the reversible section.
