I'd personally say go for real-life. I think it'd make routes look a little more realistic as it's something you see all the time when you go on the train anyway.

Both. The coal empties diagram will be looped at Morpeth, Chevington, Alnmouth and Crag Mill. It'll take an hour and a half to drive properly! An HST and 220 diagram will be modified to produce trains that follow the coal empties, passing them at Morpeth and Crag Mill..... and, should they begin to catch the coal train, they'll be driving on yellows....

I'm not going to stick graffiti on the HTAs. There's a small amount of real graffiti already in the route - at Dunston and Cramlington.

And in my experience in getting around the country, I believe the grafitti issue is more a southern thing, so perhaps it's best to keep the NE 'clean.' I expect I've opened a can of worms there...

Sadly not, a lot of the coal wagons in the NE get graffiti in the Newcastle area etc, think Tyne Yard is particularly bad.

Why say that? I'm not having a go, but why say that? Graffiti is everywhere pretty much. All the main cities suffer from such crime. Just London has it quite bad.

It's just that I've particularly noticed it more locally, where it is a big problem. If you've ever been stranded on Streatham Hill station cursing the lout who has taken your train out of service by his mindless vandalism (and who do you think pays for his damage, the fare-paying passenger of course), then you will have answered your own question.

Seriously, I was tongue-in-cheek and bracing myself for the backlash! But I didn't expect the response. I was waiting for us southern softies to defend their area, instead we get the north saying yes, we've got it too! In certain fields and countries graffiti has developed into an art form, and I've got to admit some of it can be quite amusing, but not when it causes damage and expense to other peoples' property.
Eezypeazy, stick to your guns and keep the empties as they are, and we'll pretend we're still in an era where there was respect. lol, Alan.

I'm in full agreement too Eezypeezy, stick to your guns. While Graffiti has some merit in design etc, it is mindless, imature actions from groups and indivuduals who haven't yet grown up. It's akin to birds and animals "S---- in their own nests", nevermind the total disrespect for other people and their properties, which includes massive bills to clean off, or remain an eye-sore.

If they restricted their 'art' to set areas just for that then they may find the respect and credit they appear to be looking for. But, really, what is the difference between Graffitti and scratching your, or someoneelses' name on windows etc. None that I can see.

The north-west is the one of the worst areas, amongst southern and midlands. I saw a rake of HTAs at Lincoln and about 3 out of 30 were reasonably graffiti free! We have some vandalism at Eastcroft depot in Nottingham.

With Networkers down here, the whole coach was sprayed. Not a mark of NSE anywhere even over the windows.

I must say it's one of the best lines to play on and use it at least once a day.

A few thoughts on the ECML and subsequent Tyne Valley if I may:

* - A shame to see no TaW Metros flying about on their respective adjacent lines. Will they be included in the future somehow? Or even a scenario driving on the TaW Metro... :grin:

* - A larger diversity of passenger stock, like other types of multiple units to feature (142s fit in great )...

Other than that, no grumbles from me. Good work.

I'm hoping to buld a Metrocar as a passing train object in the not too distant future. As regards a driveable Metro, that's not going to happen from me! You could, however, use the 323 on Tyne Valley between Fellgate and Sunderland - they seem to handle very much like a Metrocar, but they go faster... you could always edit the route file to add stops at the Metro stations, too....

With regard to passing trains on ECML, I've placed these in (roughly) the correct places to imitate the trains you would pass in real life.
