Hi, I admit that play TSW and TSW but with the class 801 coming to the later I have a question about them.
In TSC it has the speed set feature but the TSW one doesn’t.
So my question is in real life do all the class 80xs have speed set and if not which do and also is the speed set feature actually used in real life (for LNER specifically) by drivers. If that is a yes is it a policy thing or a drivers choice. Any knowledge is very much appreciated so thanks for any respeonses.

GWR 80X and I believe all other 80X have a speed limiter setting that can be changed by the driver, we are encouraged to use it but we don’t have to, it’s permanently set at 125mph unless we change it to something lower.

Interesting thanks for that insight, I did expect it to be something missing from the game than a difference in real life but you never know it seems!

Although that encouragement to use it has wained lately due to several incidents being blamed at least partially on speed set being used. Personally I never use it unless there is something wrong with my train that means I have a speed limitation, such as a dodgy horn meaning 100mph top, but other than that I'm no fan.

'Encouraged' is perhaps over-emphasising it. The speed limiter is a tool that can be useful in certain situations where an absolute speed restriction applies (temporary block working etc.) but it should never be used routinely. There have been several downloads showing drivers constantly resetting the speed limiter as the linespeed increases leaving Paddington, which is far from advisable given the read across risks in that location. And there is no benefit to doing so - ATP will prevent the train speeding excessively. Hence the recent notice issued by the Head of Ops clarifying when it can and cannot be used.
