Class 730 WMR

Been travelling around on the class 730/0's in and around Birmingham for the last days and realised that the class 730/0's require conductors/guards to release and lock doors at every single station. Seems really unnecessary given that similar trains from this family (345s, 720s and 710's) all have driver door release and in some cases driver door closing too.

Is it something TOC specific or line specific?
