Hello all, I recently contacted a few people about the future of the Chiltern Silver Sets; class 68s, mk3s and DVTs, which currently run express services between Birmingham (Kidderminster in peak) - London.
-Chiltern management still do not know the future of the Silver Sets as this is down to the DfT, although both parties want to get rid of the Silver Sets ASAP
-The reason for this is with high running costs on the Mk3s and DVTs, and noise complaints adding insult to injury (but don't the 68s sound stunning?)
-No replacement has been lined up as of yet but with Chilterns already low capacity and class 185s, 175s, 158s, 222s and 221s to just name a few coming to the end of their careers at their current operators could it be possible that Chiltern could get some of these DMUs as it would seem illogical to retain a hauled service due to high costs.
Anything else you can add wold be greatly appreciated
