2V21 09.00 Cannon St - Hayes formed of 3X465 unit's suffered a fire under the bogie of the 4th coach

of unit 465250 coach 65799 at West Wickham this morning at 09.40 Two Fire engines attend along with the

Police.The line was closed between Elmers End - Hayes for approx 2.5hrs. There was only minor damage to the side of the coach and the fire was dealt with very quickly. I understand this is the second train fire this week on a South Eastern service.

Was the previous fire on a Networker as well? More specifically, were they both units with GEC traction packages?

That's a fire on the unfused side of the the shoe gear and associated cabling.

Another Networker also started smoking at Dartford yesterday.

I believe that was a dragging brake type of issue, which stopped being a problem as soon as the train had been stopped long enough for it to cool down.

I know SE have been having issues with emptying their toilet tanks and cleaning off graffiti recently, hopefully it hasn't also affected maintenance as well!
