Yes they have the older GEC equipment and more problematic? Metro-Cammell bodywork, but it's a shame to lose the nicer interiors of the 465/9s.
Thanks for the updateI don't know what units were involved today, although according to the video description in this video that captured the first move this week, 10x 465/9s and 10x 466s are due to go in total, which would make sense as this totals 60 carriages, the same number that comprises the remaining 12x 707s coming over. I believe this leaves 24x 465/9s and 27-28x 466s, when considering the first units that went into storage.
EDIT: According to this link it was 465905 and 466013.
Thanks for the update,I’ve seen the list of units going - it’s 12 moves in total - each a 6 car 465 + 466
I think that might be the case, possible may return but only if the 3775 in due course, was to move Southern ie due to demand for more units etc, or maybe return to Set also, before any new units arrive to Set ie 2027/2028 to replace Networkers. If they are all moving to Worksop is this because Ely has no room, or because they're keeping them in warm storage in case they're suddenly needed again in the near future (or another reason). The 465/2s of course started at Worksop, then moved to cold storage in Ely, with some apparently being part-stripped in Doncaster.
The GEC units are actually more reliable, indeed the older equipment is still better as of today. As for bodyshells, some definitely do creak, 465905 being one of the bad ones, but they have a smooth ride (smoother than the BRELS I my opinion) and a nicer ambience.Yes they have the older GEC equipment and more problematic? No idea why, I know they did have some issues that limited it to two units with at least one of the 37s.Thanks for confirming. Is there a particular reason they are moving them like that, rather than making 8 car moves (I'm sure there was at least one move in 2021 that was a 465 and 2x 466s)? It would reduce the number of workings required, but I don't decide this obviously.
The 465 was 933. That only had a major overhaul back in December!
Okay that record needs correcting. If the unit has had issues recently that may have bumped it up the order in line for storage, while logic would state the units furthest from their last overhaul would go first, I'm sure it's not as simple as that. The 465 was 933. Is that verified?
There are two separate posts from different people in different locations on se-gen quoting 465 913.
Perhaps there was a last minute switch and various sources/trackers couldn't keep up?Even though the title of the picture says 913, you can clearly see it’s 933 being dragged![]()
