For anyone who is interested is seeing one of the Javelins do 140 mph 'through the front window', it's available on the ITV Local website.

One thing that has beome evident to me during that footage is the large changes in height throughout the journey. I had not realised that such gradients were being employed.

Another thing that has struck me is how uninspired and uninviting the St.Pancras extension is. It is basically just a concrete shed. The Victorians who built the magnificent arches futher down the platform would die of shock upon seeing that. It just has no feel whatsoever.

I think the new javelins don't look to bad.

I know many people will not be in favour of the modern design but if I guess thats 'progress' in terms of building a high speed rail link. And yes wsj - some of the gradients o that route look barmy!

the approach to st pancras is like any terminus in the uk in my opinon although i would rather go streight into the barlow shed, as to the gradients, most LGV's in france have bigger gradiants so i'm not suprised at all, also the trainsa aren't bad i hope they enter service erlier than december ( rourmers say july) because the sooner they blow it, the further away from the olympics it will be!!!! (JOKING)
