The one that sticks in my mind better than any other is overseas - the approach to Marseille on the TGV coming down from the north. The train, shortly after leaving Aix-en-Provence TGV, heads into a long tunnel, and on exiting the tunnel the huge port of Marseille can be seen, as well as much of the city and the gorgeous coastline (usually, when I'm going that way, I'll be taking one of the SNCM ships from Marseille, and I like to look out and see if my boat is already in the harbour!).

On the approach to Manchester Piccadilly from the East you can clearly see large parts of the city centre to the left, with the Beetham Tower being most striking. When approaching from the West, the City of Manchester Stadium is easily visible to the right, which is all one needs to see when coming into Manchester .

The approach into Manchester Victoria, from Ordsall Lane is quite special, where you pass Manchester's heritage, in terms of MOSI, then Granada Studios, Beetham Tower right in the back, then you get the view of the Printworks, the Wheel etc, just make sure you don't look down into the vicaducts
