Circle line train braking

I was on a circle line train today that fluffed pretty much every stop, stopping then having to move on a bit before the doors opened and braking so hard it sent passengers to the grab rails a few times. Is this likely to be something like a new driver finding their feet or a system issue?

I‘m sure the Circle was intended to be complete late last year, I remember reading a TfL board paper stating it was about to be finished, it was linked in the SSR resignalling thread.

But the symptoms mentioned are probably something @Dstock7080 would be able to explain, I think?

Where was this?
The Circle Line is still manual between Sloane Square and Paddington via High St until close of traffic tonight!
Protected Manual can be used in other areas and is very difficult to perform with perfection.

For the next 5 hours colour light signalling remains at South Kensington, Earl’s Court, High St Kensington, Olympia, West Brompton and West Kensington.
This will be switched off tonight and bagged up during tomorrow morning. The CBTC will be switched on in these areas and trains will run automatically from around midday tomorrow without passengers.
Some time over the weekend certification will be received to allow passenger operation ready for Monday morning.

Protected Manual operation is the operator driving the train but constrained by the CBTC system in terms of distance and speed at all times. Stopping has to be extremely precise and can lead to ‘notching up’ if not in the correct position.

Interesting time to observe this by the sounds of it!

I was travelling between Victoria and Bayswater. My recollection is that it happened at every station but I couldn’t be sure.

Therefore Victoria to Sloane Square would probably have been in ATO, then Sloane Square to Bayswater is manual only driving until tonight.

Thanks Dstock7080. Is there a reason why the driver might have struggled a bit in manual mode today, anything to do with the transition? It was very noticeable as it so rarely seems to happen, especially at multiple stations.

It also seemed to happen at what I assume were some signals between stations.

Lots of training happening at the moment so could well have been a trainee driver.
