To all involved in working over the festive period.
My commiserations.
I know what you are going through after working them myself until retirement last year.

I am sure you will make up for it later though.

What renewal sites are on the go this christmas?

Not heard much about what sites are working this year.
Too much focus on weather problems to bother with run of the mill closures I suppose.

I know a couple of my mates in Maintenance are out and about today. They'll make up for it with the extra wonga I'm sure.

I'd volunteer for Christmas working. It means sod all to me. If they wanted to pay me extra, great, though I'd be quite ambivalent about it - I'd probably've worked today for the same as any other rest day. I realise most of my colleagues wouldn't though.

I had a dead late last night, meaning I finished at 0130 this morning. No extra pay, though, just normal rate.

I do feel more for those engineers out there, (or one of my supervisors, and those in the NOC, who are doing 12 hour day shifts today...)

I'd work Christmas day (on the provision I could get to work) because I find it incredibly dull.

How is work at Reading progressing? I read somewhere that the shutdown is just to bring it under the control of Didcot Signalling Centre but I'm sure they must be doing some track remodelling as well?
I'll be using it on early on the day it is upposed to be handed back to operations - hope there are no overruns this time :(
