It's only a like for like replacement of the Mk3s initially, so there will still be 165s on Oxford services for a while. (And probably continuing once the full fleet are introduced as well.)Quick question for anyone that knows..
With the introduction of the MK5s to Chiltern, I heard the plan is to use solely 168s on the Oxford - Marylebone line? With 165s going elsewhere.
It's a common error, many "normals" fear being excessed if they remain in the former business class carriage, to the extent that some stand in the vestibule whilst seats are free in it! (Marylebone departures). Usually from the Birmingham Moor St end it's quiet too, but I suspect that's because it's at the end of the platform furthest from the buffers!Any news on where the mk3s are going, I rode back from Birmingham before Christmas, and some of the other people boarding at the same time thought they were in first! .. It even had me confused for a bit.
Likely scrap, spares, ERS will could pick some up, at the moment who knows. But given they’re not in the best of shape or reliable, I can’t see them having much more of a future on the mainline.Any news on where the mk3s are going, I rode back from Birmingham before Christmas, and some of the other people boarding at the same time thought they were in first! .. That’s the general consensus. However only ~4/5 Birminghams will be Mk5s when all are introduced.Quick question for anyone that knows..

Is that right?
Thanks
