Changing at Newport (Gwent) station

Hi

My daughter needs to change at Newport, she's arriving on the FGW from Portsmouth changing to the Arriva Trains to Wrexham.

Does anyone know what platforms these arrive and depart from, does she need to use stairs?

I'll be buying her an advanced ticket, she's got 10mins to change, what happens if her arriving train is late, can she use the ticket on the next Arriva Train?

Yes, she will be able to catch the next available service, as well as claim delay compensation from FGW (depending on extent of delay into final destination).
