Is 55022 running on two engines these days? Unfortunately I've not had the time to follow it's progress for a while :(.

It was running on two on Saturday when on Thunderbird duties on the last leg of the CFPS tour.

Some good news...

CFPS News Release

Update on CFPS Engineering progress and things going in next few months

D335

D335 was run up on Saturday 2nd October and the loco is still operational apart from issue with No.1 end bogie. It is hoped that D335 will be seen running in and out of Bolton Street Station Bury on 16/17th October during the ELR diesel event. Around Mid November 40145 will haul D335 to Barrow Hill on a One Journey only arrangement for a lift & bogie repairs and C exam by HNRC. It is also hope that the paint work will be touched up and a coat of varnish applied to bring it back up to a reasonable standard. Its hoped that D335 will return to the ELR early 2011 and be up and running on the winter service trains.

40145

No.4 traction motor repairs are almost completed and providing test run goes ok it should running back on 6 traction motors for ELR October diesel event. As mentioned above it’s hoped that 40145 will haul sister locomotive D335 to Barrow Hill in November whilst at Barrow Hill the loco will be lifted and No.4 traction motor will be replaced.

The reason for the change is that the motor even though the motor has been cleaned up it has lower insulation readings than the other traction motors and there is some concern that during the flash over that a small internal fire may have caused unseen damage that could lead to failure again at some point in the future we also have a very generous offer by HNRC to undertake the work and very reasonable price for replacing the motor. I wish to take this the opportunity to thank Harry Needles and his staff for their generous offer.

After the traction motor as been replaced and loco is fit for service again it will leave HNRC Barrow Hill and head to Peterborough to Collect 40106 from the Nene Valley Railway to the Boden Engineering workshops at Washwood Heath in Birmingham. 40145 over the winter will be repainted from Large logo livery back into BR Green with small yellow warning panels in readiness for the Loco’s 50th Birthday in 2011.

Once it’s repainted D345 as it will be will haul 40106 to Barrow Hill & Collect D335 and return all three 40’s to the ELR. During Early 2011 the ELR for a Whistling Giants type event on a date to be announced.
